Meat Design Ostrava was founded in 2015 out of pure enthusiasm, passion for design, and pride in our city. As patriots of Ostrava, we decided to be the first to fill a gap in the cultural map—we decided to create a festival that would celebrate top-notch design and inspire the entire region. Without partners or large budgets, but with enormous faith in the meaning of our efforts, we held the first edition and have been growing with each subsequent one ever since.

Today, Meat Design Ostrava is much more than just a presentation of designers. It is a story of courage, creativity, and determination; it is a significant cultural event and a unique opportunity to experience design in our region firsthand. In nine years, we have welcomed over 36,500 visitors, presented more than 800 designers, brands, and manufacturers from Czechia and abroad, and proven that Ostrava can live and breathe design.

At the last 9th edition, we welcomed more than 6,500 visitors, presented over 110 brands and designers, presented 5 special curatorial installations, presented the work of 50 students and schools, and 20 stars of Czech design accepted a personal invitation to Ostrava, whose lectures and installations inspired and captivated the audience.
